Ready to Start Composting?!

Most people hear the word composting and think “nope not for me”. We all tend to assume it’s an involved process or that too much time and energy goes into it. Well, composting isn’t as hard as you think and it's time to spread the word!

Every year, each American throws out about 1,200 pounds of organic garbage that can be composted. YES- you just read that correctly.

Instead of throwing your vegetable or fruit scraps like apple cores, peeled carrots, avocado pits (you get the picture) into the trash; just add them to your compost bin instead. Here are a few tips to help get you started:

Your scraps can take anywhere from 4 weeks to 12 months to decompose. You’ll know it’s ready when the scraps have turned into small, soil-like particles that are brown in color. The compost soil can be used in your garden, house plants, etc
